I didn’t mean for it to happen again.

Locked doors suck, and how was I supposed to know he’d have episodes back to back like that? Two days apart. I truly didn’t think he’d come in. I thought I was safe.

But once he opened the door, I couldn’t find it in me to do anything but let it happen. I told myself every excuse in the book — it’s dangerous to wake him up, he deserves better than a doll, it feels so fucking good — but ultimately, I didn’t try to fight him because I didn’t want to.

As fucked up as it makes me, I’ve never been taken like that before. I’ve never felt half that turned on — and yeah, maybe part of it is the taboo, but most of it is just Adriel. The way he touches me even in his sleep, the growl in his voice when he speaks. The way he takes care of me even when he is awake.

I’m still not ready to tell him and admit that in some ways, I feel like I’m raping him by leaving the door unlocked. What’s the difference, really? He doesn’t know it’s happening. He asked me to lock the door to keep him out. Other than that weird moment on the couch when he grabbed my chest, he’s never made a move on me awake.

This is wrong. I’m wrong.

And that’s what makes it so fucking hot right now.

I guess prison really did change me.

Shaking it off, I check out my simple jeans-and-a-black-tank-top outfit and call it good enough, leaving my room to find Adriel in the kitchen. It’s hard to even look at him without my jaw throbbing uncomfortably, but I’d rather fake it than face it. “Can you take me to work? I’ll get a ride home so you don’t have to wait up,” I rasp, clearing my throat and hoping he doesn’t fucking ask why I’ve half lost my voice. “I’m not sure what time I’ll be done.”

His eyes travel along my face, throat and ultimately stop at the mark he left behind between my neck and my shoulder. “Fall out of bed or something?” he jokes, then moves on before I have to try and respond. “Yeah, I’ll give you a ride and be your ride home.”

“Mmhm.” Desperate to deflect, I add, “Unless you pick up a one-night stand.”

“Maybe a two-hour stand, but definitely not a whole night.” He winks at me with the dumbest smile on his face, making it hard not to follow up by asking him who will take care of his second wind if he doesn’t stay for more.

In my experience, he needs two to be sated.

“Okay, Casanova. Just don’t fuck her in the passenger seat. That’s my spot now.”

“Of course not. Let me just get real pants on and we’ll head out.”

All that does is make my gaze flick down to the natural bulge in his pajama pants. God, I want him in my mouth again already.

Watching him go, I force myself to put last night from my mind and focus on what’s coming.
